When the draft law on Armenia's accession to the European Union was approved at the last session of the government, it seemed that this adventurous decision would not be followed by the euphoric encouragement of the popular political segment, but by sobering opinions based on real calculations based on economic and security realities.
Especially since EAEU's share in RA's foreign trade turnover was unprecedentedly high - 42.2 percent, and EU countries' share was unprecedentedly low - 7.5 percent.
But rational opinions were the exception, which, as a rule, drown in the maelstrom of pseudo-Western psychosis.
People fail to realize that in the conditions of global geopolitical contrast, the relations between Russia and the West resemble a zero-sum game, and in that context, the strong policy of the Armenian government to change the country's strategic orientation is extremely dangerous.
Yesterday, Gagik Tsarukyan made an extensive conceptual reference to the topic, who particularly spoke about the foreseeable economic consequences of political adventure: "...The government starts the year 2025 with the announcement of the EU accession process of RA, approving the corresponding draft law. I am not referring to the political aspect of the issue, because they did not invite us to the EU, and they do not expect us there.
I am talking exclusively from the economic point of view, that this step can lead to the economic collapse of our country. These words of mine have two recipients. first, the business community, which knows better than anyone how difficult it is to find and keep export markets in the modern world, and knows very well that 1-2 thoughtless, uncalculated steps can very quickly lead to losses, bankruptcy and the dusting of a lifetime's work.
The second addressee is the people, whose standard of living may deteriorate sharply. One wrong step can literally make millions of people destitute. I am not intimidating, I am telling the truth," wrote Tsarukyan.
Mr. Tsarukyan, in fact, calls for positive consolidation of the society, business elite, addresses a message of sobriety to the people who create value and live by their sweat, not to allow a thoughtless turn, the price of which could be the collapse of the statehood.
In the conclusion of the article, Tsarukyan, in fact, formulates today's main imperative, that is, to create foundations for the implementation of a balanced foreign policy through the path of society and intra-Armenian consolidation.
"One should never allow the geopolitical divisions of the world's strongmen to become an occasion for intra-Armenian division. We cannot be divided into pro-Western, pro-Russian, etc.
Quite the opposite. we must be a bridge, taking into account the uniqueness of our nation. But for that, first of all, we ourselves must be bridged, united internally.
The division of our nation by geopolitical features is the work of the enemy, his dream. We should not give in to it," wrote Tsarukyan.
