On June 4, the special envoy for peacekeeping operations of the White House, Steve Wittkoff, and the son-in-law of the US president, Jared Kushner, held consultations at the Oak Ridge National Nuclear Laboratory in Tennessee within the framework of negotiations with Iran, Axios reports. "The Oak Ridge meeting does not mean that an agreement will be signed between Washington and Tehran.
However, it shows that the negotiations are at a very serious stage, and there is a good chance of success, and we want to be ready," an unnamed US official told the publication.
According to the article, Wittkoff and Kushner met in Oak Ridge with, among others, nuclear experts who had previously participated in talks with Iran in Oman. The consultations were attended by key US nuclear experts, "who know how to technically implement what the agreement with Iran will include," the US official said.
