US President Donald Trump has published a map on the Truth Social network, which depicts not only the United States, but also Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Mexico, a number of Central American and Caribbean countries under the US flag.
The map shows the territory from Canada to the Caribbean in the colors of the US flag, and the entire area is written "United States of America".
Trump did not attach any explanation to the publication, so it is not known what message the US president wanted to convey with this map.
The publication has already received a diplomatic response. Icelandic Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir summoned US Ambassador to the country Billy Long.
The Icelandic Foreign Ministry reported that the country's position was clearly conveyed to the American side, describing Trump's publication as "completely inappropriate".
The publication of the map comes after Trump has repeatedly spoken about establishing US control over Greenland and has also floated the idea of making Canada the 51st state of the United States.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen also criticized the publication, calling it "disturbing" and "completely inappropriate."
