The IHA news agency reported that a private plane carrying two people made an emergency landing in the sea off the coast of the Turkish province of Rize.
“A plane departing from the Georgian city of Batumi with two Belgian citizens on board made an emergency landing in the sea off the coast of the Rize province,” the agency reported.
According to media reports, the coast guard pulled the plane ashore, and the rescued Belgians were hospitalized.
There is no information yet on their condition. The Turkish Interior Ministry said in a press release that the rescued foreigners were conscious. The ministry said the plane was initially headed to Ordu Airport but was unable to reach it due to engine failure.
