The Prosecutor Was Absent in the National Assembly, but Everyone Was Interrogated on His Behalf: Andranik Kocharyan Is the Fierce Opponent – 'Zhoghovurd'

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" writes.

"Yesterday in the National Assembly, the authorities and the opposition, one could say, launched a unanimous attack on representatives of the law enforcement system, demanding answers that have not been received for years. For several days now, the draft state budget for 2027 has been under discussion in the parliament. Heads of government departments come to the National Assembly in turn, present their institutions' budgets, and then answer MPs' questions. However, there is one exception in this process — the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia. The Prosecutor General has not attended the parliament for years to answer deputies' questions.

Meanwhile, the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office, the work of the law enforcement system, and criminal cases that have caused public uproar have always been at the center of political discussions. And yesterday, government MPs also joined the opposition deputies' grievances. Notably, one of the sharpest critics from the ruling camp was Andranik Kocharyan.

Yesterday was not an easy day in the National Assembly for representatives of the law enforcement system. Representatives from the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Justice, the Anti-Corruption Committee, the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, and other bodies had to listen to MPs' complaints. And it seemed that Andranik Kocharyan decided to concentrate all his political potential on directing questions to the law enforcement representatives. The questions and criticisms he raised once again showed that the attitude of this ruling party MP toward the work of the law enforcement system is, to say the least, not positive.

It is noteworthy that Kocharyan’s criticism was not voiced for the first time. His behavior can be considered another manifestation of his stance regarding the work of the law enforcement system. It turns out that yesterday the most opposition-like figure among the opposition deputies in the parliament was the ruling party’s Andranik Kocharyan. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General continues not to come to the National Assembly and not to answer MPs' questions, so other representatives of the law enforcement system had to face criticism from both the opposition and the authorities."

Details in today’s issue of "Zhoghovurd" newspaper.
