US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that Iran can expect only a partial lifting or relaxation of US sanctions to give up its highly enriched nuclear fuel stockpiles and stop uranium enrichment.
"We would like them to agree to open the straits, as was planned during the conclusion of the ceasefire agreement. We will lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports, and as part of that they will agree that they are willing to sit down and negotiate an agreement that will ensure the removal of highly enriched uranium and limit or ban their enrichment program," he said during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing.
"And in return, they can get some, not all, but some of the sanctions imposed on them lifted or softened because of their nuclear program," added the Secretary of State.
