Iran's Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has supported Azerbaijani girls who face persecution in Azerbaijan for wearing the hijab.
"Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Science for Iranian universities' readiness to admit Azerbaijani girls wearing the hijab, I urge the Ministers of Health and Education, as well as other officials in the education sector and university leadership, to take the necessary measures to continue admitting and educating Azerbaijani students," he stated.
Earlier, Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology Hossein Sima-Sarraf declared the willingness to admit Azerbaijani girls to Iranian universities.
"The doors of Iranian universities are open to those girls from Azerbaijan who wish to obtain an education. We can admit the faithful daughters of the Prophet Muhammad, who are forced to remove the hijab in order to exercise their right to education," he noted.
Earlier today, Baku accused Tehran of interfering in internal affairs due to the announcement about Azerbaijani girls' education.
