Priest Ararat Poghosyan writes:
"Today, in the political discourse of the authorities, the false, sapotic, anti-state statement that the model of modern Armenian patriotism was formed by the Soviet Empire in the 1940-1980s. This view is historically not only a vulgar error, but a dangerous distortion, as an attempt is made to falsify the reality and patriotism as a thousand years of identity of the Armenian identity, to present the balance or consequence of the Armenian identity. The Soviet period could use patriotism and reproduce, but never to create it.
Under the Soviet reversal, on the contrary, the pure patriotism was condemned as a heavier crime, nationalism, and the cream of the nation was sentenced to exile and death on that accusation. Patriotism has been the share and weight of the Armenian blood or identity from Hayk to this day, and the core of the spiritual and cultural value system remains, and so before preliminary times to today.
Considering the patriotism of an Armenian an external order is an insult to our national type and all the old and new martyrs not spend their lives for the homeland.
This means denying and denying our whole story, crucify or to lame the entire legacy of the past. This can only be judged and only those who hold neo-Sobholshevik ideas. And the homeland has always been an unknown and absolute value for an Armenian, not a political order. Here is the word of Astvatsik Nzhdeh, as saying in the Soviet times, that can be the natural course for our whole process. "My soul has a merciful pillars God and Homeland."
PS: The information provided by the Armenian bibliography shows that the patriotism of the Armenian has been formed over the centuries, from Hayk Large, Mashtots to Khorenatsi, Narrator to Hayduk Movement from Avarayr to the Heroic Battle of Sardarapat to the Artsakh Statement.
