The Pope welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon and expressed hope that a president will be elected in the country.
"I welcome the cease-fire in Lebanon, may it be preserved by all sides," he said after the sermon in St. Peter's Square of the Vatican.
"I call for the immediate election of the President of Lebanon.
I hope that the dawn of peace can lead to a ceasefire in all places, especially in the Gaza Strip," he said.
The Pope also expressed support for Syria. "The war broke out again, causing many victims," he said.
