"Closing the Armenian nuclear power plant is one of the priority directions on the agenda of the USA and Turkey today." "Fact"

"Fact" daily writes:

central-asia.news writes in an article titled "All narratives and attacks on the Armenian nuclear power plant have political goals" that Armenia plans to build a new nuclear power plant by 2036.

Against the background of current geopolitical events, Armenian government officials are negotiating with US representatives on the construction of a new nuclear power plant.

But, obviously, the choice to work with Americans is dictated by political considerations. Independent experts point out that Armenia is following the so-called "Lithuanian scenario", when Vilnius, under pressure from the West, abandoned Soviet nuclear energy production, which led to the current electricity shortage in the Baltic states.

In addition, the United States usually offers small modular reactors (SMRs), which, however, have not undergone adequate testing and cannot meet the safety requirements for operation in regions with seismic activity.

Meanwhile, the leaders of such technologies are Russia and China, whose proposals have been proven in practice.

The Russian state corporation "Rosatom" has valuable experience in the operation of small power nuclear power plants and in the field of seismic safety.

"Rosatom" has already successfully implemented or is implementing its projects in seismically active countries. Furthermore, reactors used in small nuclear power plant designs are also used on Russian icebreakers.

These installations are able to withstand multi-meter shock waves of water, so they were specially designed with high seismic resistance in mind.

Famous public figure Grigor Grigoryan spoke about atomic energy in Armenia. "The Armenian nuclear power plant has always been a bone of contention for both Turkey and Azerbaijan, because Armenia is the only country in the region that has a nuclear power plant, and its closure is one of the key issues with which the United States and the European Union seek to turn Armenia into a province of Turkey.

It is known that Armenia was under siege since 1992, during the first Artsakh war.

Turkey unilaterally blockaded all energy channels, all communication channels, etc. The electricity produced by the Armenian nuclear power plant did not allow to completely bring Armenia to its knees.

The Pro-Turan project, which is actively supported by the US, the European Union and Turkey, includes Turkey's leading role as an energy provider in the region.

All narratives and attacks on the Armenian nuclear power plant have political goals. But the politicization of energy is inadmissible and unacceptable.

Especially after Armenia's defeat in the second Artsakh war, the United States and the European Union advise Armenia to "abandon historical stereotypes" that include ties with Russia, and which they are very interested in.

They also strongly recommend abandoning the international agenda for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and many other things.

The closure of the Armenian nuclear power plant is one of the priority directions on the agenda of the USA and Turkey today. The Russian Federation has offered several times to repair and modernize the Armenian nuclear power plant.

But since Artsakh is occupied and depopulated, and the authorities of Armenia are the protégés of the USA and Turkey, I think that it is understandable why Armenia is delaying all this under different pretexts.

What the United States is proposing are the small modular reactors that they have tested and are still testing in East African countries.

The USA does not tolerate any criticism directed at itself and wants to replace the nuclear power plant in Armenia with small modular reactors, which are called mini nuclear power plants.

I repeat, all this should be considered in the context of turning Armenia into a Turkish vilayet, the desire of the West, depopulation in the area and establishment of pan-Turkism.

Experts in the field of energy say that Armenia currently needs at least 600 megawatts from nuclear power plants, and it is of medium capacity, and what the Americans are offering does not solve the energy needs.

According to "Rosatom" and even according to the European Union, the risk of an accident in the operating Metsamor NPP is 50,000 to 1, even with outdated units.

At the same time, the European Union plans to close the Metsamor nuclear power plant after 2036. I believe that if the pro-Western junta remains in power, the shutdown could happen much sooner.

During the first Karabakh war, we lived without electricity for 5 years. We call those years dark and cold. The supply was either 1 hour a day or not at all.

It was especially difficult in winter, because Armenia has a high mountainous and cold continental climate, the temperature drops to -20, -25, and in those conditions we cut down our forests and lit our stoves with wood. We are all familiar with it, maybe not the younger generation, but we have lived and learned by candlelight.

We survived then. But after 30 years of the West working to demoralize the new generation in Armenia, I don't think that the people can resist if such times come again.

So, I am skeptical. The possible closure of the nuclear power plant would be an energy disaster, which could very easily turn into a national tragedy and, in general, the depopulation of the country."
