The President of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, said on Tuesday that he instructed the state bodies to carry out their functions, the press service of the head of the republic reports.
On Tuesday, the parliament of Abkhazia accepted the resignation of the president of the republic, Aslan Bzhania. As the Speaker of the Parliament Lasha Ashuba announced, the Vice President of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, will hold the position of the head of the state until the extraordinary elections are held.
"I have begun to fulfill the powers and duties of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, I have instructed all leaders and government bodies to perform their functions in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Abkhazia to preserve and ensure the activities of Abkhazia," Gunba said in a statement.
