The main obstacle to the pursuit of the issue of the Artsakh people's right to return has surprisingly been and continues to be the RA government, said former RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan.
"Despite the clear humanitarian and diplomatic advantages of defending and raising this issue, Pashinyan has avoided addressing this issue. When asked why, he claims that the right of return is not in the interests of Armenia, but he does not provide any clear justification.
This claim is unclear, dubious and confusing, as many strong arguments suggest otherwise.
First, Armenia is obliged to protect the right of return. The government of Armenia has a moral and diplomatic responsibility to protect the rights of the people of Artsakh, who were forcibly displaced as a result of acts of aggression and ethnic cleansing.
If Armenia does not protect their right to return, no other country will deal with this issue," says Oskanyan.
