The USA has sent a small group of its military to Nigeria. This was reported by Reuters and Associated Press (AP) agencies, referring to Dougin Anderson, the head of the African Command of the US Armed Forces (AFRICOM). The media do not specify when the American military arrived in the country.
As AP reports, Anderson did not specify the exact number of the unit sent, but emphasized that it was a "small" group. The Reuters agency, for its part, notes that the dispatch of military personnel took place against the background of intensifying cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
"This has led to a deepening of cooperation between our countries, including the sending of a small team from the United States with a number of unique capabilities to strengthen the activities that Nigeria has been engaged in for several years," the Associated Press quoted Anderson as saying during a press briefing.
