Japan will raise entry visa fees for foreigners five times from July

The Japanese government has decided to increase entry visa fees for foreigners from July. This is reported by Kyodo News.

The single-entry visa fee will increase fivefold, from $18 to $90. The fee for issuing a multiple-entry visa will increase from $36 to $180.

According to the agency, this is the first increase in visa fees in Japan since 1978. The decision is due to inflation and the depreciation of the yen.

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi stated during a press conference that the Government does not believe that this step will have a direct impact on tourism.

By raising visa fees, Japan plans to bring them closer to the levels of the "Big Seven" countries.
