Due to the intense heat in France, 845 schools and colleges will be closed on Monday, another 1,800 educational institutions will change their work schedule and dismiss students in the first half of the day, reports Le Figaro.

This was announced by the Minister of Education Edouard Geoffre, clarifying that the closure will mainly apply to those regions that are in the mode of the red level of weather danger. In total, there are about 60,000 educational institutions in France.

According to the minister, classes in 845 schools and colleges were either completely canceled or organized in a minimal format. The minister emphasized that the decision is made at the regional level, as the situation is different in different parts of the country.

He also noted that the main principle continues to be the continuity of the educational system, but exceptions and temporary closures are allowed in case of a threat to the safety of students and staff.

Before that, the Ile-de-France region announced emergency aid of one million euros for 500 exam centers. The funds will be used for the purchase of fans, air coolers and other equipment for heat protection.
