The USA removed the Tomahawk missile installations from the Japanese base

The US military has removed Typhon mobile land-based missile launchers, which are used to launch Tomahawk medium-range cruise missiles, from Japan's Iwakuni Marine Corps Air Base, Kyodo News Agency reported.

The Ministry of Defense of Japan has informed the Japanese city administration about this. Initially, it was planned that the equipment located at the Iwakuni base within the framework of the US-Japan military exercises would be removed after their completion, on September 25.

However, on November 10, they were still there, which caused serious concern among local NGOs, who pointed out the dangers of the permanent deployment of these weapons in the country. They demanded that the Japanese Ministry of Defense influence the United States to immediately remove the Typhoons from the country.

At this time, it is not known what caused the delay in dismantling these structures, but local analysts speculate that it was due to the ongoing shutdown in the United States.
