The United States and NATO allies are discussing the creation of facilities for the production of AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles and service centers for Patriot PAC-3 missile systems in Europe, Reuters reports, citing a source.
Potential countries participating in the programs, which include the US, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland, plan to sign a memorandum of understanding on July 7 within the framework of the NATO summit in Ankara. The implementation of this program will free up the production and maintenance capacities of American missile manufacturers Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, which will allow them to increase production in the United States. The agency notes that the AIM-120 AMRAAM and PAC-3 are actively used by the Ukrainian military.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized European countries for relying on American military power and not spending on their own defense. He also called on European countries to buy more American weapons and start joint production.
