According to the European Defense Agency, the cost of purchasing weapons and defense equipment for EU countries increased by a record 39% compared to 2024.
"Expenditures of the acquisition of defense equipment in 2024 reached 88 billion euros, which is recorded 39% more than 2023," the document said.
The agency believes that "the growth of defense shopping expenses will probably continue in the coming years, as several member states have announced the additional budget agreements in 2024, which will contribute to the further growth of costs on new equipment."
