Residents of Great Britain witnessed a bright display of the Northern Lights on the night from Saturday to Sunday. Green and blue lights illuminated the skies of Scotland and Northern Ireland, marking an impressive end to Halloween, reports BBC News.
The weather improvement contributed to the observations: clouds and rains gradually moved southward, clearing the skies in the northern parts of the country. Photographers and astronomy enthusiasts shared photos of the unusual natural phenomenon.
According to the Space Weather Centre of the British Met Office, the Northern Lights may appear again on Sunday evening. The highest likelihood of viewing is in northern Scotland, as well as Northern Ireland and northern England.
However, a new band of cloud cover approaching the northern regions may hinder observations. In areas where the sky remains clear, the Northern Lights will still be visible, although they are expected to be less intense than on Halloween night.
Experts predict that activity will gradually decrease starting Monday.
