UN teams in Afghanistan face a lack of resources to help the victims of the earthquake, said Indrika Rutta for humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
"There are 22.5 million people in need in Afghanistan and half of the population. More than 1.7 million Afghan refugees have recently returned from Pakistan. We have had to close hundreds of institutions due to the reduction of funding. The country's reserves have almost expired.
"We have applied to neighboring countries for help, but this is a race against time, we have no resources, we have to deal with several crises at the same time during a briefing in Geneva.
He said that the UN "is necessary to take immediate action by the international community to help the people of Afghanistan.
