Turkey is investigating the possibility that the plane that crashed in Georgia was shot down

Experts in Turkey are investigating the possibility that the military plane that crashed in Georgia may have been shot down, said Abdulkadir Selvi, a columnist of the pro-government Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, who is close to government circles.

The Ministry of Defense of Turkey reported earlier that a Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport plane crashed in Georgia on Tuesday, killing 20 servicemen.

Ankara is coordinating search and rescue operations with Tbilisi. The administration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that the investigation into the causes of the plane crash will be conducted with utmost care.

"Did our plane crash or was it shot down? A thorough investigation is underway. The possibility of both the crash and the crash of the plane is being investigated," Selvi wrote in his column on Thursday.
