Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he supports the Armenian Genocide recognition project to be presented by the Foreign Minister, writes Ynet Global.
"I have never shied away from recognition and I definitely support the project," Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said in response to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar's question about the initiative to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel stated that the recognition of the genocide committed against the Armenian people in the last years of the Ottoman Empire is both a moral and historical duty.
"At the next session of the Israeli government, I will present a proposal for a resolution on the official recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Israeli government. We must strongly condemn any denial, reduction or distortion of historical truth. The resolution will later be submitted to the Knesset vote," Gideon Saar wrote.
