US President Donald Trump announced on the page of his social network, Truth Social, that US forces, coordinated with Venezuela, killed Niño Guerrero, the leader of the Venezuelan "Trena de Aragua" criminal group.
According to him, the US Southern Command, according to his instructions, carried out the strike in coordination with Caracas. In 2024, Trump described the group as the main enemy of the country and promised to deport all its members.
The Trena de Aragua group appeared in Venezuela about 15 years ago. US security officials consider it a threat to the national security of several countries: Peru, Chile, Colombia, as well as Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia and Costa Rica.
According to the US Department of Defense, gang cells operate in the 16 largest states of the United States.
