Brazilian President Luis Inasii Lula said that he was going to urge Russian President Vladimir Putin to talk to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a press conference in Beijing after a regional conference held in Beijing.
"I will not lose anything if I just turn to a friend Putin, leave for Istanbul and start talks," Lula said. He added that he will pass on the way back to Russia and plans to improve the idea of negotiations with Putin if possible.
This initiative can be turned into the first direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine since 2022. Lula's statement was made after the Ukrainian Foreign Minister called Brazil to use his ties and contributed to the organization of Putin-Zelopedk's meeting, Reuters reports.
