Iran and Qatar have agreed to unfreeze $6 billion of Iran's $12 billion assets held in the emirate, according to President Masoud Pezeshkian. "According to the agreements reached, 6 billion dollars of the 12 billion dollars of Iranian assets kept in Qatar will be frozen and returned to the country.
The work necessary for the return of the remaining funds is also ongoing," the Iranian president's press service quoted him as saying. On June 20, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States and Qatar were working together on a mechanism that would allow Iran to use some of its frozen assets to buy humanitarian aid.
According to the publication, Tehran can initially get access to 6 billion dollars kept in Qatar.
