Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discusses possible talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This was stated by RIA Novosti news agency.
"Today, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidani and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a telephone conversation, during which bilateral issues and regional issues were discussed, including Syria, Gaza and Ukraine." The statement said.
According to the agency, the Foreign Ministers also discussed the details of RUBIO's visit to Turkey. The US Secretary of State is expected to take part in the informal meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Antalya from May 14 to 15.
A few hours ago, Fidan said that Russia and Ukraine would be able to agree on the conditions for starting direct talks in the coming days. The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that Moscow and Kiev have different positions on the launch of the dialogue.
Earlier, Turkey spoke about the preparation of talks between Russia and Turkey.
