A decree that concerns thousands of Armenians living in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on temporary measures for the stay of illegal migrants in the Russian Federation in order to develop a law on their deportation.

According to the document, migrants who are illegally in Russia must leave the country on their own or adjust their legal status by April 30.

In 2024, Russia adopted several laws that tighten the migration policy. One of them is a mechanism for registering migrants through the register of controlled persons for foreign citizens staying in Russia without legal grounds. Data about such persons are recorded from the date of illegal border crossing, cancellation of visa or residence permit.
