A weather danger level has been declared for Moscow and the Moscow region due to the expected snow and strong wind in the coming hours. This was reported to TASS by the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.
"At 21:00 Moscow time, a blizzard and gusts of south-west wind at a speed of up to 17 m/s are expected in the city and the region," the source of the agency said, noting that the yellow level of weather danger is the middle level of the scale and indicates possible weather hazards.
In response to the expected deterioration of weather conditions, the Moscow authorities have reminded that these conditions may contribute to the occurrence of snow cover and icy roads. Therefore, the municipal services department called on Muscovites and visitors to be extremely careful in outdoor areas, avoiding sheltering under trees and parking near them. "When driving a car, strictly observe the speed limit and keep a safe distance," the group emphasized on its Max Messenger channel.
According to the forecast of meteorologists, light snow is expected at night under a partly cloudy sky in the Moscow region, the temperature in the city will vary between -7 and -9 degrees Celsius, and in the city center between -3 and -5 degrees Celsius. The Hydrometeorological Center of Russia predicts -5 to -10 degrees Celsius in the Moscow region. The wind is forecast to be southwesterly at a speed of 6-11 m/s.
