Deputy of the National Assembly, former chairman of the Control Chamber, Ishkhan Zakaryan, and the General Prosecutor's Office may make peace. On June 15, Ishkhan Zakaryan's representative, attorney Hakob Koiloyan, announced this perspective at the Anti-Corruption Court. He writes about this "the trace":
In the anti-corruption civil court, the examination of the prosecutor's claim continued today, by which Ishkhan Zakaryan and his family members are required to return the property and funds of illegal origin to the state.
Prosecutor Hripsime Asatryan, Deputy Head of the Department of Confiscation of Illegal Origins of the General Prosecutor's Office, asked the court to allow changing the basis and subject of the claim. "There have been changes in the presentation of the claim regarding the companies, the subject of the claim was real estate, which has been withdrawn, there has been a decrease in the monetary claim, the loan claim has increased. A certain change has taken place in terms of deposits," announced prosecutor Hripsime Asatryan, noting that Zakaryan's family members submitted evidence to the prosecutor's office that related to money transfers made by unknown persons to their accounts. "They were not considered illegal, they were considered replenishment of the account and deductions were made from Ishkhan Zakaryan's cash receipts. There are also donation contracts," the prosecutor noted. Hakob Koiloyan, representative of the Zakaryans, did not object to changing the basis and subject of the claim. Judge Lili Drmeyan satisfied the petition of the prosecutor's office, allowing to change the basis and subject of the claim.
When the court tried to find out from the representative of the defendants whether more than a week is needed for them to present a position regarding the amended claim, Hakob Koiloyan stated: "No, honorable court, it is enough." I think, if we go for reconciliation, we have the option of reconciliation, I think, naturally, there will be no need (to present a position), we will fill it with objections. After that, the lawyer mentioned that there is not much time before the appointment of the next session, then he expressed hope that a reconciliation agreement will be reached and asked the court to schedule the next court session as soon as possible.
In 2024, the Prosecutor's Office filed a claim for the confiscation of property of illegal origin from Ishkhan Zakaryan and his family members. During the almost two-year court investigation, the intention to make peace between the official and the prosecutor's office is announced for the second time.
Ishkhan Zakaryan was elected to the National Assembly on the electoral list of the RPA and Hayrenik parties in 2021, but some time after entering the parliament, Zakaryan left the opposition faction, then as an independent deputy he voted in favor of Vahagn Khachaturyan, the candidate presented by the CP for the position of the President of the Republic.
The prosecution, before changing the plea, demanded from Zakaryan and his wife to confiscate the 3.5 million drams deposited in Akba Bank and the sum of 40 million drams, the sum of 610 million drams as the money received from the transformation of property of illegal origin and the 143 million drams, which was not substantiated by their legal income. From the official's son and his wife, the prosecutor's office demands the property located in the center of Yerevan, and from Zakaryan's son, Vardan Zakaryan, demands the confiscation of 1 building in the territory of the Tsaghkadzor sports complex, the property located on Bagrevand street in Yerevan (Ishkhan Zakaryan's famous mansion), his share in "Harvest" LLC, "Greenpark" LLC and the loan granted to "Bamelex" LLC in favor of Armenia. the right to demand the outstanding part (7 million drams). In today's court session, it was not possible to find out what real estate was excluded from the prosecutor's request (by changing the subject of the lawsuit).
