The authorities reject both brandy and Ararat, but continue to carry out state procurement, buying "Ararat" brandy. "People"

"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:

"Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed at the October 23 Cabinet meeting that cognac cannot be produced in Armenia, as it is made only from grapes grown in France's Cognac region. In fact, strict demands are placed on the Armenian authorities aspiring to Europe, even deadlines are set. almost 20 years.

The authorities were talking about removing the name "Cognac" from the Armenian market as early as 2021, they say that Armenia and the European Union plan to sign a new financing agreement in the near future, by which the EU would provide Armenia with 3 million euros.

Armenia should have stopped using the name "Konyak" for Armenian cognac, organized and developed a new brand for the Armenian drink with that money, advertised and promoted its use and distribution, as well as organized the preservation of the position and competition of the new Armenian brand in foreign markets. There have been no obvious changes since 2021, which may have angered the Europeans.

Let's remind that the request to abandon the name "Cognac" is scheduled for 2017. According to the "Comprehensive and Extended Partnership" agreement signed between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union on November 24, which fully entered into force in 2021. from March 1. According to the same agreement, it was planned to give up the name "Champagne". Armenia was given time until 2043 to give up these names and choose new ones. It turns out that the authorities reject both brandy and Ararat, but continue to carry out state purchases, buying "Ararat" brandy.
