At today's session of the government, the decision on the termination of the authority of the council of elders of Gyumri community of Shirak marz was adopted on a non-reportable issue.
According to the justifications, "According to Article 69, Part 1, Clause 1 of the Law on Local Self-Government, the Government can prematurely terminate the powers of the Council of Elders, if the meetings of the Council of Elders are not convened for more than three months during the regular session."
The three-month term expires on December 10." At the same time, according to the government's decision, emergency council elections will be held in Gyumri, but the date will be set by the CEC, "within a week after the government's decision to call emergency elections comes into force."
"The extraordinary elections of the councils of elders of Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor are held after the decision to appoint extraordinary elections of the councils of elders comes into force - not earlier than 30, and not later than 40 days later, on Sunday at the latest," the government's justification states.
