How is the protest action going on in the center of Tbilisi?

On Thursday, protests on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi are taking place in a calm atmosphere. The action started more than an hour ago, several hundred people are participating, but the avenue's traffic is blocked.

The police closed the streets near the parliament building. Special units and sprinklers are located hundreds of meters away in Freedom Square.

A day ago, the protests in front of the parliament were the most peaceful. The demonstrators did not throw fireworks at the police, and the law enforcement agencies watched for ten hours without interfering.

Protests in Georgia began after the ruling Georgian Dream party decided to postpone negotiations on joining the European Union until 2028. Protests in Tbilisi and other cities of the country have been ongoing since the end of November.
