"Consultations are continuing in Gyumri, I have not yet made a decision," Karen Sarukhanyan, MP of the "Civil Pact" faction, told reporters today, November 28.
According to him, since it is not clearly written in the law that there will be a temporary official in such cases, they were going to go to quick extraordinary elections without a temporary official.
"At the moment when we realized that we cannot go to the elections without a temporary official and the mayor of the community, because the law does not allow it, a decision was made that the law should be changed, and it happened immediately: a mayor of the community will be appointed, and we will go to the elections," said Sarukhanyan. adding that the amendment of the law is already underway.
"We have a governance crisis in Gyumri, it's still winter, the problems are increasing day by day, and the city should have governance sooner than later," he remarked.
The MP confirmed that at the moment when they were planning to go to the extraordinary elections, the Prime Minister offered him as a candidate for the CP.
"When in legal terms we realized that we cannot go to early elections, the Prime Minister already addressed the people of Gyumri, saying that they should choose who should be appointed as the interim official."
Touching upon the rumors of drug use, Sarukhanyan noted that he has touched on that topic for quite some time. "I published the data of the test I passed, I must say that they tried to discredit me with those false information. They know me very well in Gyumri, they also know that I am the number one fighter against such vicious phenomena.
I have also declared that I am ready to pass any test. I can give any blood, urine, or hair sample to anyone who needs it, let them go and hand it over."
