Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with Armenian Public Radio, described the concession agreement for the 'South Caucasus Railway' as exceptionally favorable for the Armenian side.
According to him, Russia is ready to discuss issues related to the future activities of the company, taking into account the changes in the region and Armenia's new needs.
"I was impressed by the analysis of the concession’s activities presented by the head of 'Russian Railways'. The concession agreement itself is drafted with exceptionally favorable, perhaps even unprecedentedly favorable conditions for the Armenian side," Kopirkin stated.
The ambassador noted that the Russian side is ready for further cooperation in both railway transport and atomic energy sectors, considering the interests and needs of the Armenian side.
Kopirkin also mentioned that a working group has been established, which within three months should study issues related to the concession, also taking into account changes in regional transport and logistics processes.
Responding to a question about possible mutual concessions between Yerevan and Moscow in the fields of railway transport and atomic energy, the diplomat said he prefers not to use the word "bargaining."
"I believe both parties will comprehensively assess the issues that have matured in our relations, and this will be the subject of further negotiations. The most important thing is that the discussion proceeds in a constructive manner based on mutual political will," said the Russian ambassador.
