The media learned about Trump's plans to "exert maximum pressure" on Iran

After taking office, the newly elected US President Donald Trump will sharply tighten the sanctions against Iran, particularly against the oil industry. This is reportedThe Wall Street Journal-(WSJ), citing sources.
"I think you will see new sanctions that will try to further isolate Iran, both diplomatically and financially," said a former White House official, whose name was not disclosed.

The publication recalled how in his first term Trump withdrew from the six-nation agreement with Tehran, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which aimed to limit Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

During that period, Trump pursued a strategy of "maximum pressure" on Iran, hoping it would abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions, stop funding and training groups the United States considers terrorists, and improve its human rights record, according to the publication.

White House newspaper sources believe that Trump will continue his policy towards Iran.
