The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has exceeded 1,400, the country's Ministry of Communications and Media said. "3,200 confirmed cases have been registered, of which 773 patients are in isolation or hospitalized, 571 have recovered, and 1,405 have died.
The mortality rate is 43.9%," said the statement on the Ministry's social media page.
On May 17, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a state of emergency that poses a threat to other countries. WHO assesses the regional risk of the spread of the virus as high.
