Belgian law enforcement agencies have arrested a Canadian citizen of Chinese origin who worked as an intern at NATO's European headquarters on suspicion of espionage, RTL reports, referring to the Belgian federal prosecutor's office.
"A Chinese-Canadian citizen who was an intern at SHAPE, NATO's strategic headquarters for Allied Forces in Europe, located in Mons, was arrested on Friday.
He is suspected of spying for a third country and participating in a criminal organization," the media reported. Searches were conducted at the suspect's home and workplace.
