Analyst: Trump's economic program will not be able to raise living standards in the United States

The economic program proposed by Donald Trump will not be able to raise the standard of living in the United States. According to American economist and professor at Columbia University Jeffrey Sachs, the elected president incorrectly identifies the main causes of the problems of the working class.

"The problems and challenges of the United States are not caused by migration, Chinese imports or high taxes. They are primarily rooted in technological changes such as automation, which have led to the loss of many jobs and hit the working class," he told the newspaper.Il Fatto quotidiano.

“Unfortunately, Trump’s economic program is unlikely to raise living standards in the United States,” he continued. Moreover, the prominent economist believes that the pro-Trump business class, including new technology pioneer Elon Musk, tends to ignore the poor and the needs of the working class.

“So Trump could get results for the rich class, not for the voters who put him in the White House,” Sachs explained, recalling that Trump during the election campaign promised to improve the economic situation of the working class, which, according to him, is suffering slogans, against illegal migration and dependence on Chinese imports.

Sachs also foresees a significant division within the labor class - between skilled, university-educated and trained professional workers and the unskilled labor force. Representatives of the second category with basic education are most at risk of their jobs due to automation.
