On May 11, in an extraordinary session, the Parliament of Armenia approved the legislative amendments in the second and final reading, according to which all RA citizens over the age of 16 must have identification cards.
Only if this card is available, a person can get a biometric passport. There will also be special identification cards for people aged 6 to 16, and birth certificates for those under 6 years old.
All documents intended for foreign trips of citizens of the Republic of Armenia will be in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization. Identification cards are planned to be used inside the republic, and biometric passports are to be used for traveling abroad.
Biometric passports will also be issued to refugees and persons granted asylum in the republic.
