Fact daily writes:
In March 2024, the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan had meetings with the Honorary President of Iraqi Kurdistan Masoud Barzani and the President of Iraqi Kurdistan Nechirvan Barzani in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Iraq. During those days, businessman Roman Muradyan published a photo of the meeting with the latter on his Facebook page, which means that he was also part of the delegation led by the president.
It is said that Muradyan has quite large business connections in Iraq, including Iraqi Kurdistan, and his role was not small in the organization of Vahagn Khachaturyan's official visit. However, this story might have been forgotten today if the above photo had not been "activated" again. these days, the photo with Nechirvan Barzani is again a "hit" on the Internet. Since it is the pre-election stage, and now many things are considered through that prism, we tried to understand if Roman Muradyan is included in the electoral process in any way. It turned out yes. He is on the pre-election list of the "Republic" party, and at a fairly high position.
It is noteworthy that the list of a political force with a pronounced pro-Western and anti-Russian orientation includes a businessman who not only has close ties in Iraqi Kurdistan, but also publicly emphasizes those ties with a photo with Barzani. The point is that Nechirvan Barzani, to put it mildly, is not against constructive and practical relations with Russia. Moreover, it considers cooperation with Moscow as an economic necessity and an additional lever in relations with Baghdad. In other words, he is a supporter of a balanced policy in order to prevent Kurdistan from becoming a theater of conflict between the superpowers.
