The Pakistani authorities hope that the participation of US Vice President J.D. Vance in the negotiations with Iran will increase the possibilities of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict, a Pakistani government source told CNN.
The source explained that Islamabad hopes to convince Vance to stay in Pakistan as long as possible in order to end the negotiations with a long-term ceasefire. He estimates that it may take several days.
Moreover, CNN, referring to other sources, reported that Iranians "have very little confidence" in Steve Wittkoff, the special envoy of the US president, who is part of the American delegation.
