Dubai hotels lay off workers due to Middle East conflict

A number of Dubai hotels are laying off employees and sending them on unpaid leave due to the conflict in the Middle East, a hotel industry source told RIA Novosti.

"Layoffs are the result of the situation. Those who work mainly in the hotel industry, the sales managers, have the highest salary.

Therefore, they are usually released in such a situation. Because if there are no tourists or corporate events, what can be done? Now they are trying to offer minimum leave, reduced working hours or 30%-50% of salary. Some employees are sent on unpaid leave," the source said.

He reminded that the Arabian Travel Market exhibition was scheduled for April and was postponed until the end of August.
