Washington expects an increase in oil production in Venezuela

The United States expects oil production in Venezuela to increase by 30-40% this year with the support of American companies. US Energy Minister Chris Wright stated this in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

"We will see a fairly significant 30-40% increase in oil production in Venezuela this year," the minister noted.

He added that the United States will continue to work with the Venezuelan authorities to evaluate all past and recent agreements, as well as to set priorities that will meet "the interests of Venezuela and the Western Hemisphere."

On January 3, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Ivan Gil Pinto, announced that the US had struck civilian and military facilities in Caracas, calling these actions military aggression. A state of emergency has been declared in the country.

Later, Washington confirmed the strikes and announced the arrest and deportation of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. On January 5, they appeared in New York state federal court. They are accused of being involved in illegal drug trafficking. Maduro and his wife have not accepted the charges.
