The progress made by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards reaching a peace agreement is a historical turning point. This was announced by the President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, in a video message addressed to the winners of the "Zayed" human brotherhood award.
He noted that such a policy has an exceptional moral and political significance at a time when the world is increasingly fragmented.
"The progress recorded by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards reaching a peace agreement is a historical turning point. It shows that even protracted conflicts can be resolved through dialogue, responsibility and restraint.
In an age marked by conflict and division, this experience shows that reconciliation means strength, not weakness.
For Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Armenia are close, brotherly countries. We appreciate the confidence shown in our country, including hosting an important round of peace talks in Almaty. This confirms our general principle that the only way forward is dialogue.
Kazakhstan constantly supports initiatives that strengthen peace, trust and cooperation in Eurasia and around the world. The Zayed Award carries a powerful moral message. It reaffirms that fraternity is a universal principle and a practical basis for ensuring security, development and human dignity. This award embodies the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which is based on tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence," Tokayev noted.
