The President of Finland has announced the creation of a "new NATO".

A "stronger NATO" is now being created than the one that existed since the end of the Cold War. This was announced by the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, at the World Economic Forum held in Davos, the local newspaper Helsingin Sanomet reports.

"We are creating a new NATO, where Europe assumes greater responsibility," Stub emphasized.

He also noted that NATO will continue to be the "cornerstone of European security".

At the Davos forum, Stubb stated that Europe can defend itself "unconditionally" without the participation of the USA. The Finnish president also called for a NATO summit to discuss the situation in the Arctic region and to "discharge" the issue of Greenland. He noted that the Greenland crisis can be resolved "at the end of the week".
