The security of the gathering in front of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is properly ensured by the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Narek Sargsyan, press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said this in a conversation with "Armenpress".
"The march is not licensed, that's why the march was prohibited, and during the gathering, 7 people were subjected to administrative arrest for committing an act stipulated by Article 182 of the "Administrative Offenses" Code (failure to comply with the legal request of a police officer), Sargsyan said.
The press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that the police will continue to exercise the powers assigned to it by law, ensuring public order. A group of Iranians living in Armenia are holding a protest in front of the Iranian Embassy in Yerevan.
Demonstrators are protesting the authorities' actions against protesters in Iran and demanding secular rule instead of religious rule.
The demonstrators want to march to the Blue Mosque, but the police do not allow the march, stating that it is not authorized. The protesters started a sit-in in front of the embassy.
