Cuba will not capitulate, the country's president said

For Cuba, capitulation, retreat or any kind of forced agreement is impossible. The island is ready for dialogue with the United States only on the basis of equality and mutual respect, President Miguel Díaz-Canel announced during the commemoration of 32 Cuban soldiers killed in Venezuela.

"Neither capitulation, retreat, nor any agreement based on coercion or threat is possible. Cuba has always been and remains ready for dialogue and improving relations with the United States, but only on equal terms and based on mutual respect," said Díaz-Canel, whose speech was broadcast on state television.

Speaking in Havana, the head of state emphasized that this principle has remained unchanged for more than six decades and will not be revised in the current conditions.
