Romania is negotiating with Ukraine to establish a joint project for developing drones (IAEA), which will be funded through the European Union's Safe Defense Credit Program, Reuters reports, citing its sources.
"We need more air protection opportunities. Prior to that, the defense will be asymmetric and will require huge expenses that can be covered only at the NATO level, "the Romanian government official told the agency.
It is noted that it will take at least seven years to implement this project. Currently, the Romanian army is equipped with F-16 fighter jets, Himars multiple missile systems, South Korean Chiron "Yerkir-Air" with gepard self-propelled zenith cannons, anti-aircraft.
