During the working visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, during the working visit to Crete, he met with Heraklion Mayor Alexis Kalokerinos. This was stated by the Armenian Embassy in Greece.
During the meeting, they touched upon the existence and active activity of the Armenian community in Heraklion from the Byzantine time, as well as traditional friendly relations between the Armenian and Greek peoples. It was noted that the Armenian community, maintaining its peculiarities, has an active role not only in the socio-economic life of Heraklion, but also throughout Greece.
At the request of the interlocutor, Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the recent agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington, emphasizing the full importance of Armenia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognized immunity.
The mayor of Heraclion noted that he is closely closely following the developments in Armenia and the region, emphasizing that it is very important for Armenia to establish good relations with neighboring countries.
The possible directions of establishing cooperation between Heraklion Municipality and Armenian cities were discussed.
