The main drawback of smart clocks has been known

Scientists from Leiden University have found that smart clocks cannot distinguish stress from emotional irritation. The results of the study were published in the magazine "JPCS" magazine.

The specialists of the Chair of Clinical Psychology have analyzed 800 owners of Garmin Vivosmart 4 smart watches. The device is designed to control health and physical activity, and it can also calculate the body's stress and recovery level based on heart rate and other indicators.

For three months, scientists have compared the data to the participants' questionnaires. It turned out that the level of stress registered by the smart clock often does not meet real.

According to researchers, smart clocks often focus on the growth of heart attack as an emotional overload marker. However, this figure is not directly related to the level of stress. The heart of the heart is naturally accelerating not only for anxiety, but also during sexual activity or happy feelings.

"Carrier data can be useful, but it is important to recognize their restrictions and not to be identified as an indicator of emotions and health," said Margarita Panayotu, a scientist.
